Personification: "The sea-reach of the Thames stretched before us like the beginning of an interminable waterway"(pg 1). I categorized this phase as personification because, the author is giving action that is done by humans, such as stretching, to a waterway. This brief description impacts the readers understanding of the vast river that the Narrator is traveling down.
